Create a nonprofit fundraising landing page that engages donors

By Dionna Dash

When raising money for your nonprofit organization, a fundraising landing page is a must. But in so many platforms, making these pages dynamic and user friendly can be a challenge. Adding interactive buttons and embedding donation forms becomes unnecessarily complicated.

With Storyraise, making a polished, easy-to-use fundraising page is a breeze. Read on to find out how.

Structuring Your Page

To craft a professional-looking page in the Storyraise report builder, either choose a template or create a page from scratch.

– If using a template, be sure to delete all sections except for one so that you’re left with just a single page.
– If you’re building from scratch, start by adding an intro block from the righthand menu in the report builder. If you’re adding long form text, consider adding a prose block next. If you’d like to showcase some photos, a gallery block might be right for you. You can also add a blank block and customize it as you see fit.

No matter which blocks you choose, you’ll likely want to include a donate block so that your supporters can make gifts. This block includes a button that you can customize or remove.

Adding a Clickable CTA

Now that you have a donate block, you can add a clickable CTA.

1. Click on the button in the donate block. This will open a menu on the righthand side of the screen.
2. Change the text of the button as you like.
3. Scroll down to the “URL” option in the righthand menu and enter your desired link.
4. Under the “URL” option, there will be another option called “Open Link In.” Choose whether you’d like the URL to open in a new tab or the same tab as the page you’re creating.

If you don’t want to use a button, you can also highlight any other text within the donation block and hyperlink that instead. Just click the link icon that appears, and then add a URL.

Embedding a Donation Form

Embedding a donation form in your report is another simple way to encourage gifts without requiring supporters to leave your landing page.

1. Click on the ”Donate” block. This will open a menu on the righthand side of the screen.
2. Scroll down to “Widgets” and you’ll see options for adding donate widgets from Givebutter, Bloomerang, Blackbaud and Givzey. Specific instructions for adding each of these widgets will pop up when you click on them. (If you use a different vendor, you’ll follow other steps, which are listed below.)
3. To see this widget in action, check out this example from Givebutter.

If you use a different vendor to collect donations, follow these steps instead.

1. Click on any text within the donate block. A menu will appear at the bottom of the screen.
2. Click “Embed” from this menu and then add the embed code.

The embed feature is versatile, allowing you to add anything you’d like, from YouTube videos to registration forms to other landing pages.
